An auto greaser, or automatic lubrication system, is a device that delivers precise amounts of grease to critical points on your machinery at regular intervals. It uses a pump to push grease through a network of hoses to bearings, joints, and other moving parts.

The system can be set to work while the machine is operating, ensuring constant lubrication, which reduces friction, wear, and maintenance downtime. This removes the need for manual greasing, improving productivity and machine reliability.

Automatic greasers offer a range of benefits, including:

  • Increased equipment lifespan: Regular lubrication minimises wear and tear, reducing the risk of breakdowns.
  • Improved safety: No need for manual greasing in dangerous areas, reducing accidents.
  • Reduced maintenance time and costs: The system automatically lubricates components, eliminating the need for labour-intensive manual greasing.
  • Consistent lubrication: Ensures all lubrication points receive the right amount of grease, reducing friction and overheating.
  • Increased productivity: Less downtime for manual greasing means your machinery can run longer and more efficiently.

Investing in our auto greaser offers a variety of advantages for your business and machinery. A large number of our clients choose to come back to us when they upgrade or acquire new equipment, as the auto greaser has helped them save considerable amounts on repairs, especially for pins and bushes.

Auto greasers can be used on a wide range of machinery, including construction equipment, agricultural machinery, mining equipment, trucks, and manufacturing equipment, among others.

The cost of an auto greasing system can vary depending on the size of the equipment, the number of lubrication points, and the complexity of the system. Generally, prices range from several hundred to several thousand dollars.

While the initial investment may seem high, the return on investment (ROI) is significant. The system reduces maintenance costs, extends the lifespan of machinery, and minimises downtime, making it a cost-effective solution in the long run.

Routine maintenance is crucial for achieving optimal performance, and although you have an automatic greaser, manual inspections are still important.

Here’s our recommendation:

Pre-start checks - operators should perform a quick inspection to identify any broken lines and assess the greasing at various points. eep the pump, lines, and grease points free from dirt and debris to prevent blockages.

Weekly reservoir checks - a simple visual inspection to ensure the reservoir has sufficient grease can save you a lot in repair costs. This should be done on a weekly basis. K

Service maintenance - schedule a 6 or 12-month check-up with us to thoroughly inspect your entire system. Our systems are well-regarded for their reliability and performance, but regular maintenance is key to ensuring their durability over time.

Which type of grease should I use with my auto greaser?

Not all greases are compatible with auto greasers. It's essential to use the grease recommended for your specific auto greaser model to prevent damage. It might be tempting to go for a cheap option but in the long run this might cost you dearly. Check with us if you are unsure.

The type of grease depends on your machinery and the operating conditions. Some factors to consider include:

  • Temperature range: Ensure the grease performs well in both high and low temperatures.
  • Water resistance: If your machinery operates in wet or humid conditions, use a grease with strong water resistance.
  • Load-bearing capacity: Heavy-duty equipment requires grease with excellent load-bearing properties to handle stress. It's essential to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for grease compatibility with your auto greaser system.

Contact us or have your workshop assess the situation if you notice any signs of irregular grease distribution, strange machinery noises, grease leaks, or a significant rise in wear on your equipment. It’s vital to have your auto greaser checked if you experience any of these concerns. The root of the problem may not be the grease pump or a lack of grease, but could be something else. We can often pinpoint the issue quickly, so please reach out to us immediately if you have any questions.

To extend the lifespan of your auto greaser, ensure regular maintenance, use the appropriate grease, keep the system clean, and monitor for any signs of malfunction.

Yes, auto greasers can be retrofitted to most machinery, whether it's construction equipment, agricultural machinery, or trucks. Retrofitting involves installing the system, running grease lines, and configuring the lubrication points.

The key is choosing the right system for your machinery’s size, complexity, and operating environment.

Our experts can assess your machinery and recommend a suitable system, such as Groeneveld or BEKA, for retrofitting.

Yes, many modern auto greasers are designed with environmental considerations in mind. They reduce grease waste, minimise the risk of spills, and help improve overall machinery efficiency, contributing to sustainable operations.
